The Richard Montgomery High School Instrumental Music Department consists of 2 concert bands, a jazz ensemble, 2 orchestras, a marching band, and a pit orchestra. These internationally acclaimed ensembles perform for audiences around the world. The ensembles have performed at: The Eastern Division NAfME (formally MENC) Eastern Division Conference, The Annual Blues Alley Big Band Jam, the East Coast Jazz Festival, The Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, The Maryland State Band & Orchestra Festival, DAR Constitution Hall, and the Yilan International Arts Festival in Yilan, Taiwan.  The National Association for Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) has designated the program as a Grammy Signature School.  Students in the program consistently represent Richard Montgomery HS in County Honors, All State, and All Eastern ensembles.
